School & pictures

Today was Nastja's first day of school. I think things went really well. We walked her to her classroom and talked to her teacher for a bit. We also talked to her after class. It seems like all the teachers try to be involved as much as possible in helping her out and showing her what to do. The guidance counselor took her out of reading time and just did some English lessons with her privately with a picture book. Everyone said that she seemed to adjust quickly, be smiling and enjoying herself. She made friends with the girls who sit next to her, giggling with them and having a good time.

We went to Joanie and Julia's house after school so we are just now doing her homework (math). Jason has been working for 35 minutes with her so far. She gets frustrated and stops trying to figure out the multiplication. I admire his patience! She told him that 4x6 in Estonia is 21, and just because it's 24 in America doesn't mean that's right for her! Even the calculator is "it is America! Estonia, no! 21!" LOL She doesn't get that math is the same everywhere. Right when Jason gave up and told her to put 21 if that was her answer, she chose to agree with him and put 24. We are also having trouble convincing her that she should write a 1 like a 1 and not like a 7. Once in awhile she seems to forget that we're not stupid and she should listen to us! LOL

We missed her today while she was at school, but we had a lot to do at the house. We can't seem to get much done when she's around! :)

Here are some pictures for you all. Some from the trip and one from here of her with DogDog.

More soon!

Love,
Molly

I explained to Natja about 1 and 7 - that's how she beat me in the addition contest - she didn't believe me! LOL. Oh yeah, - you don't get much done with a kid around, unless you want to play UNO and other games! more LOL.

She such a cutie! Tell us, what exactly were you playing while you were in Estonia--the picture with Katya underneath all of you. Just curious. You look soooo young to have all those nearly teens! You look like one of the kids. Maybe that's the key to getting through the teen years, eh? I'm happy for all of you. :)
